Cancellation Policy & T&C’s

Payments

For direct room bookings made by telephone or through our website, card details are required to secure your reservation. Unless otherwise stated, payment is taken on departure.

Cancellations / Amendments of Room Bookings

Tuesday to Friday bookings have a cancellation period of 48 hours prior to arrival.

Saturday bookings have a cancellation period of 7 days prior to arrival.

Please note that during certain peak periods and special event weeks, including but not limited to Uppingham Leavers' Ball, the Burghley Horse Trials, Birdfair and the Christmas period, a 7-day cancellation policy applies to all bookings throughout that week.

If a booking for one of these special event periods is cancelled within the 7-day cancellation period, or in the event of a no-show, the full value of the entire stay will be charged.

You may cancel or amend your booking outside of the applicable cancellation period without charge. Any cancellation or amendment must be made in writing by email.

If you have booked through a travel agent or an online travel agency (such as Booking.com), any cancellation or amendment must be made directly through the company with whom you made your booking. Unfortunately, we are unable to amend or cancel third-party bookings. Please refer to your booking confirmation for their cancellation procedure.

Christmas Bookings

Bookings for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve are subject to a 7-day cancellation period. If you cancel within 7 days of your arrival date, the full cost of your stay will be charged.

Booking.com Bookings

Tuesday to Friday bookings – payment will be taken automatically 48 hours before your arrival.

Saturday bookings – payment will be taken automatically 7 days before your arrival.

During designated peak periods and special event weeks, payment will be taken automatically 7 days before arrival.

During Your Stay

Please do not arrive later than 10.00pm without contacting us. As a small independent hotel, we do not operate a late reception or have dedicated night staff.

Check-in is available from 3.00pm until 10.00pm.

If you expect to arrive later due to unforeseen circumstances, please telephone us as soon as possible.

If you are attending a wedding or another event, we recommend checking in before you leave. If you require an earlier check-in, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.

If you cancel within the applicable cancellation period, fail to arrive, or have not arrived by 11.00pm without notifying us, the full value of your booking will be charged.

The Lake Isle reserves the right to charge for any damage, breakages or theft caused by guests during their stay.

Vehicles are parked entirely at the owner's risk. The Lake Isle accepts no responsibility for any loss of or damage to vehicles or their contents whilst parked on our premises.

Bookings above a certain value or for larger groups may be subject to additional deposit requirements and alternative cancellation terms.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our cottages and Courtyard Bedroom for a flat fee of £15 per dog, per stay.

Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant, bar or anywhere within the main hotel building.

Guests will be responsible for any additional cleaning or repairs resulting from damage caused by their dog.

Force Majeure

The Lake Isle shall not be liable for any failure to provide accommodation or services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, fire, flooding, government restrictions, adverse weather conditions, public health emergencies or any other exceptional event that makes it impossible or unlawful for us to provide your stay.

Restaurant Terms & Conditions

For online restaurant bookings, card details are required for Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch.

A charge of £35 per person will be taken automatically if the reservation is cancelled after 4.30pm on the day of your booking or if your party fails to attend.

Restaurant cancellations must be made in writing by email.

For groups of 10 or more (including resident guests), restaurant reservations are treated separately from accommodation bookings.

A deposit per person is required:

• Tuesday to Thursday – £15 per person
• Friday, Saturday and Sunday – £25 per person

Deposits are refundable if the booking is cancelled at least 14 days before the reservation date. Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations made within 14 days.

A discretionary 10% service charge will be added to the final bill for parties of 10 guests or more.

We take allergies and dietary requirements very seriously. Please advise us before your visit so we can discuss your requirements. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate dietary needs, we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from allergens.

Families dining with children under the age of 12 are kindly asked to book an earlier table where possible (around 6.30pm) and to finish dining by approximately 8.00pm.

Weddings & Block Room Bookings

Unfortunately, we are unable to hold or block-book rooms for weddings or large events taking place at other venues.

However, please contact us to discuss your requirements, as we may be able to accommodate a number of rooms depending on availability.
